Stay in Your Lane part 2
Find Your Lane part 2
Ephesians 4:4 … even as ye are called in one hope of your calling
On any given race day, your “calling” is to make it home victorious over 60 or so other entries. But in simpler terms you're really only called to be victorious over 6 or so. And on any given pass, you are called to be victorious over just one. So there are the smaller callings within the greater calling. The greatest part of our Christian race is that victory is assured in each.
Paul wrote that we are called in one hope of our calling. Now that may sound like we are simply wishing for victory, but the word Paul uses that we translate as “hope” in Ephesians 4:4 is really a word that means assured anticipation. We are called to anticipate something that is assured!
In the Christian race, we can be assured that we will make it home to heaven. Jesus has made that pass for us, been victorious, and credited the win to our tech card (see previous devotionals). However, between now and then, God also calls us to bring others to Him or to help others make it down their lane. We can be assured that we will be victorious in these calls as well. This is the work of the Holy Spirit!
We will look at how this works in the next couple of devotionals, but for now, keep in mind that not all lanes look the same. Some people teach, some encourage, some offer gifts of service, and the list goes on and on. And God will use all our efforts to bring others to Himself.
So don’t succumb to intimidation, but look forward to God’s calling with anticipation! It is all in God’s hands. He takes care of it all. Just be ready and available when you get to the beams. He will do the driving. For more click here.
